  • After a lot of thought and conversations within the community, we’re happy to announce that Stunod Racing will not be shutting down. The incredible support we’ve seen from all of you has played a huge role in this decision, and we’re truly grateful to everyone who values and contributes to what makes this community so special.

We’ve been exploring ways to manage the costs of keeping Stunod Racing up and running, as the current expenses felt unsustainable. We considered moving conversations to Discord or creating a standalone site for file hosting, but those options didn’t really fit what most of the community wants or the experience we aim to provide.

Here’s the plan moving forward: Stunod Racing will remain open, but we’ll be making some changes to how files are hosted. There will be a few upfront costs during this transition, but these updates will help reduce our expenses over time and make things more manageable in the long run. We’ve been working with a few members and programmers to figure out the best solutions, and while there are still some details to iron out, we’re confident we’re heading in the right direction.

Thank you for sticking with us and being patient as we work through these changes. With your support, we’ll ensure Stunod Racing continues to be a place for creativity, collaboration, and connection in the racing community.

Stay tuned—we’ll share more updates soon!

Couple more Chevrolets have rolled off the render dealership, and they are the #33 of Mike Wallace and Dave Marcis' final ride in the NASCAR Cup Series. Both schemes have remade bases, and in the case of Wallace, it has been updated to Daytona 500 spec rather than the ride he had a week later at Rockingham.

With Harvick's Daytona 500 scheme getting the rebuilt treatment, I'm finished with the Richard Childress Racing fleet of schemes I'd have to upgrade to Definitive status. Well until I begin working on the Alternative schemes (which there's a lot), but that's an issue I'll face in the future.

Well, here's the variation version of the Bradshaw #83, Kerry Earnhardt's version of the RacingUSA colors that were run late into the 2002 Cup Season. This scheme, alongside the Aaron's Dream Machine scheme that made it to NR2003's base roster, never qualified for a Cup race in the early 2000s. As I mentioned in the Hornaday post, this scheme attempted the EA Sports 500 but DNQ'd.

Couple of Ponis have rolled off the Render machine, and let's go over them. Starting off with the Melling #92, to say that Kodiak's departure from the 2001 team hurt them financially was an understatement, thanks to their very limited 2002 season showing the team's lack of full-time sponsorship. Robert Pressley, who left Jasper Motorsports at the end of 2001, joined up Mark Melling's operation for Speedweeks 2002 with one-off support from Brand Source. They'd qualify for the 500 and finish 22st.

Meanwhile, Stacy Compton's variation scheme is pretty much his most forgotten start with the team. After being sacked by AJ Foyt mid-way through the season, he rejoined his old team for a one-off start at the summer Michigan race, finishing 30th in the process. Compton would finish the year out with some starts in the #49 BAM Dodge but Melling Racing would never make a Cup start after 2002.

Oh yeah, all 3 schemes have completely rebuild base schemes and elements compared to the original, 2021 release of the project.

As of now, there's 11 paint schemes that were featured in the original release of the carset that are currently awaiting a remaster/and or complete remake. But outside of those, here are the ones I have completed recently.

Geoffrey's was the biggest pain in the backside, not just from the fact that the Bo-Dyn logo used from 2002 wasn't archived in the Wayback Machine, but the associate sponsors had some garbled white sponsor that I had to replace with the Phoenix Racing logo instead.

Outside of that, every other scheme was a straightforward process. Also, Cameron's scheme has been replaced with the Watkins Glen variation just for the fact it doesn't use that bloody wrench design.

With the Daytona 500 portion of the project complete, I can finally show off some of the Additional Drivers and brand-new Alternative paint schemes that I've worked on but didn't post to the channel until now.

First off, we got Casey Atwood's nu-metal Dodge as Papa Roach came onboard for the Pepsi 400 that year. A few races later, AJ Foyt Racing gave road ringer PJ Jones a shot with their 2nd entry, the #50. Just like the other times Foyt's team has fielded an extra car, it failed to qualify for the Brickyard 400. At least PJ got to finish 4th at Watkins Glen a few races later. Continuing, we got the Schneider Electric Chevy whose paint scheme received a black base instead of the white one used at Daytona. The scheme got modified again, and Greg Biffle drove the #55 as a fill-in for Hamilton. Finally, we got the usual StaffAmerica Chevy that Tony Raines attempted during the 2002 season and Kerry's Aaron's dream machine. That scheme was pain and I never want to work on it again.

Time to show off some of the Driver variations, and these involve the Bodine Brothers of Todd and Geoff. The #26 returned to the track with Todd behind the wheel, returning to the Cup Series after his #66 entry got shut down after Las Vegas. With Discover Card on-board for the rest of the season, he finished it out and even got into NASCAR Thunder 2003's roster. Geoffrey, on the other hand, was brought in after qualifying for the New England 300. Dennis Setzer qualified what was essentially Todd's backup car in a classic case of a field filler. Bodine took over Setzer's position as driver and finished last. Thanks LASTCAR.

Time to show off some of the brand-new drivers that will be added within the Definitive Edition release. First off, we got the #07 of Ted Musgrave, a part-time 2nd entry for Ultra Motorsports that teamed up with the pre-existing #7 team. Meanwhile, Frank Kimmel's final start in the Cup Series came in the #46 Ford of his ARCA team owner. He already ran several races with Travis Carter as Kimmel served as a stopgap between the Nemechek release and the Discover Card deal. Of course, the #46 did get included in NASCAR Thunder 2003 later that year. A team that didn't get into Thunder 2003 is the #90 of Rick Mast, the last year Junie Donlavey's team would qualify for races.

Ok back to the 2002 grind, with a couple of Alternative schemes, new drivers, and driver variations. First off, we got the Volvo Truck #16 that Greg Biffle ran at California. This scheme, alongside his TNT We Know Drama scheme from the summer were included in NASCAR Thunder 2003. Speaking of Thunder 2003, Ward Burton's CAT Dealers Dodge from the Bristol Night Race was also included in the game as an unlockable paint scheme.

Driver variation time and it's the #27 of Kirk Shelmerdine. After his DNQ from the Daytona 500 with Hover Motorsports, Shelmerdine decided to field some starts with his own race team, qualifying for the first Pocono race but dropping out late.

Couple of races earlier, Mike Wallace ran a rewrapped version of his Preen Chevrolet at Talladega. I assume his car was involved in a practice crash as CIA Stock Photo has the regular Preen scheme on-track alongside a photo of the race day scheme, which was his Daytona 500 scheme but with the Preen logos slapped on.

Finally, we got Stuart Kirby's #57 Mustang as part of Team CLR's efforts to join the NASCAR Cup field. He would be the only driver to qualify the #57 into a race in 2002 as the other starts for the car would be part of various DNQ lists.

With the variant drivers down for the count, here are some new schemes coming to the pack. Featuring Jeff Green's Neal McCoy Chevy that he ran at the Charlotte Fall race and wrecked in the big one, Morgan Shepherd's Red Line Oil Ford that he piloted at the Phoenix Fall Race, and Jay Sauter's Team Realtree Chevy that he "crashed" at the Talladega Fall race.

4 new Alternative schemes are coming to the project. Starting off with John Andretti's Pillsbury Dodge from the Charlotte Fall Race, the original Duke's Mayo scheme that Rick Mast attempted the Daytona 500 with, Jeff Burton's MDA Ford from the Southern 500 and finally, Kurt Busch's Little Tikes race-winning Ford from the season finale at Homestead.
