Just thought you guys might want to know, I've been trying to expand my horizons a little. I've been watching a lot of Bob Ross videos lately, and it's opened a whole new world for me. I'm probably gonna quit painting cars and move on to painting flowers and such. Here's my first effort.roses.png

I got your answer to that a Bow-Kay of cars
Great idea! Besides, if I try to expand my horizons too much at once I'm likely to pull a muscle or something. Thanks.
Really, I'm working on a small Hershel McGriff project and the flowers are for a car he drove in 1950.
Here's a render by Garrett1127...

Here's a look at some more "new" cars I've been working on. Not all of these are from the 1956 Grand National Series, though the set will be titled "1956 Season pt.5". It's a bit of a mixed bag this time as it will include a couple of MARC Series cars, some Modified/Sportsman cars which ran in 1958 and another West Coast car or two.

Thanks for all the comments guys! I've slowed down on my painting quite a bit, as it's getting harder and harder to find reference pictures of cars I haven't already done. As I mentioned earlier, the new set will include a couple of cars from the Midwest Association for Race Cars (MARC) series which began in 1953 and became known as ARCA in 1964. I'm hoping that series can keep me busy for a little while. :p

When the new carset comes out, this one might be the star of the show. I almost didn't paint it because it's so similar to Thomas's 1955 Southern 500 scheme (which came with the mod). In the end, I decided it was "different enough" and am glad I did it. The first render is by @garrett1127 and the second one is a new one by @Rogue. Thanks again guys!

Thanks! I've kinda put the flower-painting on hold for now, at least till I get this new set out. Here's a look at one of the Modified/Sportsman cars I mentioned that will be included in it. This one was driven to victory by Banjo Matthews at Daytona Beach on Feb. 21, 1958. First render is by @garrett1127.

Thanks again guys! I'm looking forward to releasing the new set. Amongst other things, it'll include 8 more cars from the 1956 Southern 500. That brings the number of cars painted from that race up to 35. It's almost a full field for NR2003, but it's only half as many cars (70!) that actually competed in it. Here's a look at some of the newly-painted ones, mixed in with some previously released ones from Darlington Raceway in 1956.

Also included in the 1956 Season pt.5 set will be the #264 Plymouth Fury of Johnny Allen. He drove this car in 27 races that year, helping him finish 12th in NASCAR's Grand National standings. Here's a render of the car by @garrett1127.

I'm sneaking one fictional car in the new set too. Danny "On-Gas" Ongais aka "The Flyin' Hawaiian" could drive anything with wheels. Early in his career, he won motorcycle, AHRA and NHRA drag racing championships. Among other accomplishments, he would go on to compete in F1, USAC and IndyCar. Ongais raced in several Indianapolis 500's, most notably the 1996 edition at the age of 53! He started last in that race, and wheeled his car to a 7th place finish. He didn't actually race in NASCAR's 1956 Grand National Season, so I fixed that. This car is based on several of his Interscope Racing rides, where he spent a good chunk of his career. There's way too much to say about this guy for me to write it all here, so I'll stop and leave you with this screenshot of me wiping out at Darlington.
