NASCAR 21 Ignition - Can it deliver? That is my question.
Any info?
Here we can talk about it.
All have been a letdown since NR2003. There seemed to be a bit of different mindset of good old coders, lets see what this offering brings.
Peace!

For the clips I’ve seen online, I am very disappointed with the result at the this moment. I played through all five NASCAR Heat games and those have all been relatively disappointing each release (especially Heat 5) so I was hoping for a breath of fresh air with NASCAR 21: Ignition. Unfortunately I don’t see that right now and will stick with Nr2003.

I think it will be entertaining to fool around with as an arcade-type game. That said, the AI look deeply flawed. I have not seen one crash where the AI change lines to get around the wreck. Often they don't even appear to slow down. Rather, I see them holding their line and plowing into the wreck Jennifer-Jo-Cobb-style. It's hilarious to watch... for an hour. But if cars can't get around wrecks on their own then I can't take this game seriously. I'll just play it with my friends for laughs.

Figured such... The AI do surprisingly well often in NR2003. They mess up, depends on track and how its made and the mod and how Track.ini is set. Hmm about everything is a factor LOL.
I see NR2003 AI go around wrecks. Around me when I am sitting and purposely move a bit here and there watching em dodge. Sometimes they completely mess up and stack into the back of you or other AI. Not too much more than what really happens though sometimes.

Back to N21 Ignition...
You would think they would have that now... STAGES.

I guess this is still not going to be the Golden Nugget we have been hoping and waiting for.
Thanks for the info!

I'm mainly wondering how many of the bugs will be squished by the time the game releases. The previews I've seen look unpolished as hell.

Also you can't turn off steering help, no stages, and no championship mode. I give them credit for the eye candy and atmospheric details(garage area, pre-race cutscenes, and night races are spectacular) but a game needs more than to look pretty. Also the spotter seems to repeat itself ad-nauseum. It is nice to have information, but how many times do you got to say the SAME PHRASE in 5 seconds.

But I guess that is all major sports titles these days. All flash no substance.

I particularly liked the NH5, but I think between 1 and 5, the evolution could have been much higher. It has to be taken into account that the console audience prefers something like "pick up and play" rather than setting this and that for hours.

I think the biggest problem is that we will always have NR2003 as a parameter, and honestly, I always wanted something at least like it. And every time I play a Nascar that doesn't have at least the minimum physics that NR2003 does, for me it has always been and will always be a disappointment. Man, even Papyrus Indy 500 from 1989 it was possible to blow the engine, free yellow flags and replays.

It is true? And the damage system, what is it like?

I've seen the damage system at full chat, when it works, does have the ability to cut tires from car contact I've seen one or twice. But I've also seen that sometimes you take a lickin and NOTHING happens at all.

Also yes, no championship mode, only online "hoppers," quick race, and a what I'd assume is a basic career mode (which from what I've heard is just driving for different teams, no team creation)

Heck I'm not necessarily looking for a NR2003 replacement, just a solid offline title that can waste time, but it seems this game might not even be good enough to do that.

Any mod of any sim or racing game can successfully waste some time, AND it can be fun, but let's face it...we are all looking for that magic bullet that replaces NR2003...

I'm not against "arcade" titles at all, the PCars series is a lot of that and a lot of fun...

Thanks! After writing, I decided to search for videos about. Well... Oh boy...

I think like you, as long as the game is fun, it doesn't matter if it's simulation or arcade. I have a lot of fun with Gravel for example. But the problem will always be the parameter, and then there's no way...

We seem to have to curb our expectations with any new title or just be disappointed...I'm afraid
When the most complete racing titles, or at least the most overall well regarded (in terms of polish, features, and physics), atleast for PC are GTR2(2006), NR2003(200:relievedface:, Grand Prix 4(2001), and Richard Burns Rally(2004) for their respective disciplines you know things are sad.

On console the best NASCAR games are probably the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube era titles with NASCAR 2005 Chase for the Cup, NASCAR Thunder 2004, and Dirt To Daytona.

Really as far as "casual" console titles, I think the only one that stands out is the Codemasters F1 games, which are pretty rock solid for "simcades."

It's who they are targeting I think
Even then, amongst casual console NASCAR gamers, most feel that the mid 2000's EA games and Dirt to Daytona are the pinnicale. And then on the more arcade non NASCAR spectrum you had Race Driver Grid, and Forza and GranTurismo especially had rock solid titles as well. Throw in the TOCA Race driver games, Dirt 3, Project Gotham Racing, Need for Speed Underground and Midnight Club, Flatout, Burnout, and you can see why many yearn for that era back.

The best things about these games, No (or very few) patches needed, and you didn't have to pay out the arse for DLC. Everything you needed to have hours of fun was included on the disc for 60 bucks. Were they perfect? No, of course not, but they generally were just straight up good titles out of the box, without having to wait 3-5 month's if not a few years for key features to be put in or major bugs to be patched out.

No.
we are all looking for that magic bullet that replaces NR2003...

+1 this.

NR2003 was the magic bullet that replaced NASCAR Legends.
NL was the magic bullet that replaced N3.
N3 was the magic bullet that replaced N2.
N2 was the magic bullet that replaced N1.

N1 was the magic bullet that replaced... Accolade F1 GP?
