Hey guys, I was trying to paint a MENCS car in the paint shop and for some reason it came out with blue stains all through it (orange and black). Any ideas?

I don't have any program that lets me paint outside- Photoshop et cetera. I don't have any money.

Gimp is free, but somewhat cumbersome. Paint Shop 9 is also free at Hobo Racing, It's much easier to learn, but you'll have to use the basic templates as it won't open the complete temps (too many layers)

I see Paint Shop 9 there, but I also see Photoshop Lite. Is that useful in any way?

Don't know about Photoshop Lite, never used it.

Photoshop lite is Photoshop cs4 with out the 3d part of the program

I use Paint (yes, that Paint that comes with Windows), manipulate a bunch of stuff in there, then have a heap of components to then import as layers in GIMP.

You do not need to have anything particularly fancy.

What file do you need to open? I can easily use Paint but when I tried to open a .car file it didn't open.

The templates are usually .psd files; from there you can export .tga files which can be imported into NR2003.

Downloaded some .psd files and they still didn't open in Paint. Grrr

Also, is there any non-video paint tutorials? I find reading things easier to learn than listening to them.

.psd files are Photoshop files.They will also open in GIMP.

You could always try the very very nasty approach of converting TGA to BMP with this: http://www.easy2convert.com/bmp2tga/

You probably won't find a written tut on how to paint, your making this way harder than it is. Stop being close minded and open yourself up to new challenges, get PSP 9 and learn how to use it, you'll be much happier that way. Most tutorials deal with gimp, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

I can't get PSP until the 14th due to low internet, but my other thing is that when I tried to test the download link (which I believe to be http://hoboracing.com/utilitiesfiles/Paint Shop Pro 9.rar based on the HoboRacing website), it takes me to a .txt file rather than PSP. Really confusing. I'll make sure to download it when and if I can though. I'll try and be less close-minded; I think I'm just slightly angsty to start preparing for my idea for a mock season.

Also, the only reason I was insisting on opening .psd files in Paint was because I misread Rollo's comments about using Paint and GIMP combined. Sorry about that.

You have to have winrar, or 7z, or other unzipping program to get the file open. I clicked the link you have above ang got this, no text message.

Edit: I also have 7Zip.

I just downloaded it from above link, have firefox, and unzipped it with 7z, worked just fine.
