Here's a long in the shadows work that may be finding it's way into the light after years in the WIP status in rFactor1...This is an error that has just recently come to HEAT and I have to say is perhaps the most glaring missing era in NR2003...

"MoparBob" started this years ago and needed help with it, it never came, but now this guy "ToBee" is working on it...

Stock Car Resurrection
---BACKGROUND---
Stock Car Resurrection is a WIP of an early 70's stock car mod. This MOD originated back in the RF1 days. However I don't think it ever saw a public release. It was close, but I got distracted with working on SCE back then. I know a few others have contributed over the years as well. Currently there are only two people working on this mod off and on. The mod's caretaker/painter and I. I have enough knowledge to get by when it comes to RF2 modding (3d modelling, 2d textures, physics, track building, ect). However I am not an expert at any of it. So I have decided to reach out to see if there are any modders interested.

---CURRENT STATE---
Right now we have 6 makes/models, 50 something paint's/teams spread over the 71-72 seasons of vehicles in game.

71-72 Chevy Monte Carlo
71-72 Ford Torino
71-72 Mercury Cyclone
71-72 Dodge Charger
71-72 Plymouth Roadrunner
71-72 AMC Matador

However I have only focused on the exterior bits so far. Everything in the cockpits still needs work. Most of the modelling is there but needs to be fine tuned and tweaked. Physics wise I am currently using ISI's 74 dissenter combined with ISI's 2016 cup mod. No tracks, but I have a 70's version of Nashville & Riverside. I had them working in RF1.

Some development screenie's https://goo.gl/photos/jqGBRLwYgeVjEvH88

---LOOKING FOR---
Modders with experience in physics, 3d modeling, 2d textures, track creation, or anyone with a passion for these cars/era. Send me a PM if you would like to contribute.

Happy Modding!

Thanks for the kind words, old friend! I would ask that you tell your members and administrators who are waiting on tools to rip my models from this mod and use them for their own devices on other platforms, no to. I paid good money to have them drawn up and used for this project. So please, honor my request. The models are not up for redistribution. Toebee has been instructed on this as well, so please don't ask. There is a NHeat mod out there with strikingly similar models in it. I went to the site owner that hosts that mod and inquired about them and was told the developer paid to have his made as well. I have a hard time getting my head around that as Toebee helped create some of the models in our mod, never putting them out there for sale. I worked also with a modeler in Germany and one in Australia and they too never distributed those models for sale. The ones in the Heat mod are just a little too close to our's for comfort. I suspect that someone along the food chain who said they'd help me out at one point or another, spilled the beans and they found their way into Heat. Guess I'll never truly know.

Toebee's done a heckuva job by his lonesome. Both he and I have come to the community repeatedly only to be ignored. So things are what they are, happening slowly. Truth be told, I haven't even played this rf2 version as I am still on an XP box. I did the lion's share of the painting duties, though. From what I've read, people dig it. Can you believe my concept for this started back in 2004 or earlier? The reason I chose the ISI platform was the ability to get beyond the 4-car limitation and dated graphics of NR2003 as well as the dated graphics of NHeat. Rfactor2 will get the AI there eventually, and I'm in no rush. What's another decade among friends, right? ;) As a side note, this is where I spend most of my time now as a diecast collector:

www.diecastcrazy.com

But as a ChryCo guru, it's been pretty thin since Keselowski took the championship for Dodge. Luckily, a great company called University of Racing has brought me back with their new, old school Charger 500 NASCAR diecasts. You can see my collection here if you're interested, and do feel free to sign on as if you have like interests in diecast collecting:

Anyway, take care, and it's great to see a few familiar faces. Remember what I said about the models... o_O

Hello Bob,

Long time no see. Some of the admin's and moderators at Stunods are also members and staff members over at TheModSquad. :) Now just to make things clear. The guys who commented in this thread from Heat are scratch built modelers, and would have nothing to do with your models. Heck they were built what 10 years ago, and what it's just finally getting released? The reason Rogue said that about tools for Models is, were thinking of expanding to other platforms besides Heat. He has no reason to even think about looking at your models. He's also a scratch modeler, and can bang out any type of model he would like on his own..

I find this rather surprising that you are bringing up a conversation that happened over a year or more ago that was done in private, plus was proven 100 percent with out a doubt that the 72 Mod that was released by PHLPS2002-PAUL was in fact proven to you how those models were built..

BTW: The project that Highbank is talking about that is happening in Heat right now, has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR OLD models. Scott Hawbaker has been building short track type of mods since 2004, that is over 10 years of releasing his own work..

The reason Highbank was talking about your mod, is because he has a great respect for all types of motorsports, from Roadracing, to short track racing, and everything you can think of. He's known as a walking encyclopedia to his friends.

Stunod Racing is know as a very peaceful and pleasant web site, that folks from several sims come to hang out at, and this type of talk about guys wanting to rip off your models would never happen. Your talking about folks who I've known for over a decade, and if you have any type of problems come see me.. You know where to find me..
Sounds good. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, if that's what your thinking. I just read what I read.

I am glad that you'll honor my request. Thanks. If I stepped on anyone's short and curlies, I apologize.

Big misunderstanding folks...That's all this is, everyone mentioned in these posts are the best sort of folks in the wider Sim Racing community...I would never question any of their actions, motivations or skills. I hate that this has happened.

MoparBob and I have long history as do I and Rogue. Great guys, passionate about what they do...Heck Bob has been faithful to his vision of this project since before Moses crossed the Red Sea! I get why he made his post, it's his baby. Longest gestation in history....But it's finally out in beta, he must be thrilled. I am for him as well. Toebee is good folks too, Bob has chosen the right guy to bring this forward.

I've never understood why mod makers/modelers and 3dsMax guys don't see how their work enhances each other's projects. I get that there are people out there that are so small as to take modelers work and claim it as their own...Stupid it as that is.

I never even considered that Rogue was saying he wanted to be able to take MoparBob's models...Because he isn't one of those guys. It would never happen. Heck Darren is perhaps the most respectful render guy I know, it doesn't break anyone's trust. He goes way beyond the call to avoid any appearance of impropriety.

Dave I is the "great defender" of those around him, he doesn't associate with folks who would take others work, so he is quick to stand up for those in his circle of talented friends.

The Heat mods mentioned are new works, except where Scott used his own models from prior mods to put this USAC mod from the same era together. We've had many messages back and forth during his modeling process in which he shared images of the cars in various states of creation. Only thing he still was time from his family to do this silly stuff...And I'm sure he'll pay a price...We all do.

So as I said all y'all can relax, everyone is good...Really....good

What the &*$#, I was only interested in the tools to do the same stuff I did in rFactor 1, MoparBob is stepping on my toes now. All I want to do is get a list of poly counts and details to look at building future models. Next time I will remember to say nothing. I am already building models in HEAT, and improving. rFactor 2 is just a idea in the long term. I give way more than I take in any community.

@Highbank....Bill I am sorry your thread went the wrong way.

Hi. I am new to this forum and in fact rarely play computer games.

I found this from a google search and wanted to ask about the decals/skins used in this mod.

I am working on 1/32 scale plastic model car tops for slot car racing and my focus is the 1970-74 years.

Here is a pic of my first car ready to race. 52788

I currently have 3 racing decals for this body as you can see in the background.

I am working on a 1972 Road Runner/GTX body next.

This post is to ask if the skins/images created in this mod might be available to share and allow me to create decals for this and other cars.

You can find more info about this project at my website for my makerspace- www.proxiemodels.com

Thanks, and if my first post violated tons of rules I am sorry about that!

Tried getting his meshes for use in Nascar heat a few years ago but he never replied back to pm's on a different forum.

I asked if I could use his models in the rFactor "Stock Car Legends" mod I've been working on for years and was given a resounding "NO!". Then, he accused me of 'stealing' his models, even though I didn't have them at the time.

Now that there are converted to GTL, I've got the models so I'm guessing that others might have to get the GTL mod, convert the models to rF and then you'll have them too!

I don't understand the "MINE!" mentality, but can understand when people rip off your work and claim it as their own but my attempt was to bring the rF2 mod to rF, not to 'steal' his models.

Funny to see it converted to GTL and other mods (by people who didn't get permisson) and yet, even though I was helping ToeBee with the physics on the rF2 mod, he wouldn't let me use them in rF. Weak...

Ya, I believe I read a long, long time ago (maybe 2009-10) not even sure where, maybe at "Rubbin's Racin'" that he was seeking help for the mod in rFactor, but that he didn't want it converted or done for another sim until the rFactor versions was released...

That seemed so odd to me since HEAT or NR2003 was the obvious choice for the mod...rFactor? Hmmm...I never really was happy with the way any of the NASCAR mods worked in rF, ai issues...dirt stuff yes, but stockcars no

I offered to help and was shot down in quite a rude fashion, being accused of 'stealing' his models.. Models I didn't have until somebody converted it to GTL and I got them via that download.

Bummer so many talented people are complete jerks... If people would work together, the (sim-racing) world would be a better place! :)
