Am I ridiculous for thinking that the Hamlin/Jordan team is going to be numbered 23?
I honestly don't see why this team would be anything else. The amount of existing hype for this is insane. There are still kids walking around shopping malls in Jordan 23 Bulls kits, more than 20 years after he threw a ball into a peach bucket.

Also, Stenhouse is on a two year contract with JGD also that's #47 filled; but I don't see who that they could get who will do any better than Preece in #37.
- Ty Dillon is a step backwards?
- Daniel Hemric is at JR Motorsports and I think that he'd fill a Hendrick #88 before he'd take a JGD car.
- Corey LaJoie?

Also, isn't Chase Briscoe's most logical jump from #98 in Xfinity to #14 in Cup? That would mean that Bowyer goes from #14 in Cup to the TV booth.

The 37, I don't know what's going on there, but rumors have said that Spire either bought or is leasing that charter for next season. They're leasing the 77's charter to Trackhouse next season so there could be some truth to that.

I assume when you say Ty Dillon you mean to the 43. It's true that could be a step backwards for him but it may be the best scenario. RPM does have an alliance with RCR.

As far as Hemric, there are better candidates then him for that ride, especially at JR Motorsports. Gragson or Allgaier would be better choices. Hemric hasn't won a race in any of the major series, didn't have a lot of success in Cup last year, and has had an up and down part time season this year. If he's going to go back to Cup he's probably going to have to have a full time Xfinity ride first to be able to have consistency and show improvement.

Nobody knows what LaJoie's going to do next season. Rumors I've seen have said that he might go to the 37 but those rumors were quite awhile back, so plenty of things could've changed back then.

What I think is going to happen with Briscoe is that they'll do something similar to DiBenedetto/Cindric. Bowyer wants to continue racing and there's been talk that SHR is going to keep their lineup for next season. But we know Bowyer is getting close to the point of retirement. So maybe they let him have one more year in the 14 and move Briscoe up in 2022. That's what I feel like would likely happen.

-The 99 is a third charter from Spire that is being leased, it is unknown for sure where the charter came from but rumors are that it is JTG. That does not necessarily mean that JTG won't stick with 2 cars.
-23 seems a likely number for the Jordan car, but nothing is set in stone, it could also be a number that is somehow close to Denny Hamlin or they may just pick a random number.
-MattyD is staying with the 21. Cindric is slated to run the 21 in 2022 but will make his Cup Debut in 2021 with Penske (part time). It is unclear what exactly that Penske car will be but I am assuming it will be a 4th Penske car, probably 02 or possibly 77 (if spire changes numbers), since they have used those in the past. It is also possible that someone will leave Penske next year, but I doubt it.
-While it is unlikely that the 4th Hendrick car will be anything other than the 88 next year, I agree with Jeremy that the alternative would be the 5. Though I will point out that Hendrick has used the 57 before as well. Hendrick doesn't seem to be a guy that is married to any particular number. If he was, I don't think he would have let the 5 go.

57 was a number they used because they had Ore-Ida as a sponsor and it was owned by Heinz. The 57 was because of Heinz, that they have a condiment called Heinz 57 Sauce. It's bascially the same as a Phillips 66 sponsored car using 66. When the sponsorship left or moved to another team the team usually changed the number afterwards.

I think the 99 will basically be the a continuation of Germain under new ownership. When Hamlin and Jordan bought the 13 charter, that's all they bought so their team will be new. But Trackhouse is running Camaros from RCR and is supposed to be working out of the RCR shops the first year. Germain's shop was on the RCR campus and they ran Camaros with RCR support. Plus there's people who will lose their jobs with Germain shutting down so it makes sense that Trackhouse would likely hire them or at least some of them.

It's been confirmed that Spire did get a third charter and that's why they were able to lease out the 77 charter. What I think that means is that Spire has either bought or is leasing a charter of a car higher in owners points then what the 77 is. So they'll be higher up the pecking order when it comes to money distribution then if they had just kept the 77 charter attached to the 77. As it stands right now, the 77 is 33rd in owners points. The 95 is 22nd. The 37 - which is the one rumored to have been gotten from them - is 29th. The 47 is in 26th.

Now what that could mean for JTG is that there's some car above 26th in owners points that is not planning to run next year and is leasing out or selling their charter. Here's the possibilities on that:

RPM #43 - 24th
Hendrick Motorsports #48 (the current 48 would use the 88 charter since it's higher in points) - 17th

The other possibility is that basically the past few seasons is that Kroger - and many of the brands brought on through their sponsorship - could be scaling back to one car next season, the 47. If that's the case, then that's a lot of sponsorship lost for the 37. They may find it easier to just go back down to the 47 for now or make the 37 part time.

We know RPM is going to have to have find a lot of sponsorship as well with Bubba taking most of the sponsors with him. I don't think RPM will go away but maybe they have to go part time next year and if that's the case they may wanna lease the charter out for a year so that it ends up higher in owners points.

As far as Hendrick, we've heard Rick say they are planning on running 4 cars next season. I also think Bowman going to the 48 probably wouldn't happen if they didn't have some kinda plan for the 88. So I don't think a charter would come from there.

Bowyer to the TV booth !!! I like it... That sends MD to the 14 or still could be going to the 42.. :)

Hate to burst your bubble on that, but there's a driver that's more likely to get that 14 seat then DiBenedetto. And that driver is Chase Briscoe.

I think Briscoe to the 14 is a done deal... Question is ?? Will Larson or someone else be in the 88 (or 5)?

No.
Larson to the car formerly known as the 88

Called it?

I’ve had conversations with Black athletes like Harold Varner III, racecar drivers like Bubba Wallace, J.R. Todd and Willy T. Ribbs, and corporate executives like Kevin Liles (formerly of Def Jam) and Perry Stuckey (of Eastman). We didn’t just talk about the Black experience – we discussed the importance of having empathy and considering the struggles of people who don’t look like me.
- Kyle Larson, 4th Oct 2020.

Who is Perry Stuckey?
Perry Stuckey is the Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer for Eastman Chemical Company.
Eastman Chemical Company, yes that Eastman formerly of Kodak Eastman, own the brand LLumar which makes window tints among other things.

Llumar... hmm... where have I seen that company before?

Have you been watching David Land on YouTube by chance?

I don't know who David Land is.

I got here from following links from Faux News/Sports.

David Land is a motorsports vlogger on YouTube. The reason I brought him up though is yesterday he released a video talking about the thing missed in Larson's apology essay that possibly hints at his future. He talked about how someone pointed out how Larson talked to the guy at Eastman and how that ties to Llumar. It's apparently just a coincidence but you basically said the same thing as what he made the video about.

Am I crazy to think AJ Allmendinger should have a cup ride or at least be considered one for 2021 with all the road courses

This is not meant to put thim down but I would so no. I feel like A.J.'s had plenty of years in Cup and plenty of opportunities to have success in Cup and he didn't do it. He got one win while in the series (on a road course) and was never a consistent threat to win or contend for the championship.

I'd rather see someone else get an opportunity to have a Cup career then for him to get another chance and likely continue to get similar results as he did before.

Plus, some guys are just better suited for the lower series. Matt Crafton has made a championship career in Trucks. So did guys like Ron Hornaday and Jack Sprague. We've seen guys like Elliott Sadler and Justin Allgaier go back to the Xfinity Series after time in Cup and contend there where in Cup they weren't. A.J.'s running well in Xfinity and winning races. Why go back to Cup and run mid-pack when you can be in victory lane in another series?

I wouldn't say he's at the end of his racing career but he is more on the back end of it. He's part time and has a job working for NBC.

Now if he wants to run part time in Cup and can find a ride I say more power to him. But I'd rather see someone who has more years ahead of them then he does. Like if it came down to Erik Jones - for example - or Allmendinger, I'd rather see Jones have the ride. I wouldn't want to see A.J. taking a ride away from guys like that.

AJ has made it clear that he is NOT looking for a full-time ride in ANY series, I think he might consider an IMSA ride with Shank, but only because it's a shorter schedule.

AJ has a resume that is unmatched in most of the racing world.

He made the switch to stockcar from CART and was successful as his team's equipment let him be. I don't recall any other Redbull guys having much better success, and Petty's equipment was not up to speed, and the unfortunate situation with Penske is history that can not be unwritten. If he had had time in the Peske car he would have risen to the top.

AJ Almendinger is an exceptional talent.
