Wouldn't also be out of place for Haas, since that's essentially what they're doing in F1 as well, via not worrying about developing the 2021 car and saving their development tokens for the 2022 regulations.

yeah, ganassi has just given up, you can toatally see it. kurt is a great driver and he has over performed in his equipment. what i'm curious about is the ross chastain vs matt kenseth battle. cgr ditched kenseth for chastain, but right now chastain isnt doing much better.
chastain is averaging a 19.3 finishing position with many races to go
kenseth at this point in the season was averaging a 19.4 finishing position.

kenseth finished with an average of 21.4

in their first 12 races, they each had 5 top 15s with matt having better positioned top 15s

all in all, I don't think 2020 was all matt's fault. lack of practice and q caused him to struggle

i think there was some of that as well, but if he had had a more successful season I think he would have come back, cause his contract was for 2 years. all in all i'm going to miss him
heres an idea, a retired car where people like greg biffle, carl edwards, matt k, dale jr, jimmie, gordon, etc. all race one or 2 races

Edwards had no desire to race anymore when asked to fill in.... Only now he said he would like to do a one race at Road America or one of the road courses coming up..

No.
NASCAR is reporting that Denny Hamlin has qualified for the playoffs by virtue of being the top driver on points. His lead is now insurmountable.

This highlights the dumbness of the playoffs system. 'Dinger isn't eligible because he drives an unchartered car but had he been and say Austin Dillon had won one of the final two races and Larson the other, then Denny wouldn't have made it.

What kind of nuff-nuff eejit thought that this was a good idea?

I'm going to extend my pointing finger of shame and say "Shame on you, NASCAR"

...

Hello, is that Amtrak? Yes, I'd like to book a ticket. There's going to be some extra booing going on... BOO! BOO!

First of all, an unchartered team can totally be part of the playoffs, should they (and especially the driver) attempt to qualify for all 36 races in the season, win a race, and finish within the top 30 in points. AJ doesn't qualify because he's a part-time driver and doesn't earn points in Cup due to his full-time Xfinity Series effort, and therefore would never be within the top 30.

Second, I'm 90% sure that there's a provision that states that the Regular Season champion qualifies for the Playoffs, which hasn't been needed as the regular season champ is usually a race winner.

Third, even if that wasn't the case, the drivers that could knock Denny out of a Playoff berth prior to them starting would more than likely be knocked out of contention after the first round, unless some fuckery happened that caused a arguably more "deserving" driver to be eliminated early.

You almost got it all correct... A Driver can run for only one title, either Cup, Xfinity or Truck. As for Denny being locked in, well he is high enough in points that he can't be knocked out, there are only 2 races left till the playoffs, so only 2 new non-race winners outside the top 16 can get in.

Example: Harvick is +98 should be safe, but say if Matty D and Wallace win the last 2 races, that would leave Harvick and Reddick out - as they would be #14 and #15 in the Chase and Denny at #16.

AJ..... doesn't earn points in Cup due to his full-time Xfinity Series effort
Just because I didn't say it exactly, doesn't mean I was incorrect ;)

As for Denny not being able to be knocked out regardless because of time running out.... Even in the "Win and you're in" system, you still have to perform at a consistently high level, which it seems Denny has done despite the lack of a win. I also, admittedly, thought there were at least a couple more winners than there were already lol

Did anyone see this coming?

Hendrick - all 4 in.
Joe Gibbs - all 4 in.
Penske - all 3 in.
...and Harvick.

This is what makes Harvick's wee tanty at Bristol seem so odd. He should expect that Elliot was going to run screen for Larson.

16 winners this year.

'Dega was won by Bubba Wallace through good luck rather than good management. However, it's sometimes better to be lucky than good. Full credit to 23XI for making the set of decisions to put him out front at the right time.

Who saw this coming? Well I did.

Pushing - all of the major accidents were caused by pushing which induced uncontrolled yaw. That's torn up a lot of race cars for no damn good reason. Ban pushing and this stupidity instantly ends.

Instability - again, this has an engineering solution which NASCAR has had in the past but banned. 1970s aero warrior wings would have prevented excessive yaw.

Rain - again, there is an engineering solution if NASCAR wants to pursue this. Rain tyres exist.

This was perfect storm of stupidity resulting in lottery.

Did Anyone see Harvick taking out Elliott at the Roval ? I didn't... Harvick has lost my respect , bumping a car out of the way is one thing, but when it damages a car, that has gone to far and he knew what he was doing.... At least he didn't make the round of 8.

It's kind of funny that this has happened twice now. Harvick tries to dump somebody to help himself. Yet it winds up biting him in the a$$. Lol.
