Revisiting my Cup00 stuff that I never finished a few years ago:

Hybrid template of Omega base shading (reworked) with SnG shading layers over the top. Throw in some stuff by Brian Simpson and OR/SnG with some new stuff.

Making new rear lights were not fun, about 30 layers of cropped/blurred/blended/different opacity levels of real photos, lol.

All the years I've painted, edited, created, changed mips within N2k3... I've never made any Wheel sets.

First attempt at updating the tire & rims for Pontiac. While these are the '99+ style, I like the look of them.

Shown here with SnG's '98 Pontiac.

I'm also restarting an old project from ages ago that was lost on an old hard drive. 2007 NNC07 Templates with scratch made parts.

2007-Toyota-Camry-Front-V1.png

The base template is the NNC07 default stripped down to the bare minimum, and now being redone by me as a learning project into scratch making grills, lights, and shading.

The main grill is scratch made from a repeating mesh layer, masked to a Toyota shape, and then added a black gradient to add some illusion of depth. I still need to add the grill bars, which are next on the list

The Toyota badge and Camry logos were taken from Google, and then given the outlines afterwards, while the fog grills and lower grill decals were picked from a picture of a 2007 show car (the foglights had to have a greyscale filter applied as they were slightly red.)

Added some shading to the front, as well as the hood lines. The front looks pretty good as of now

also finished the back of the car, and added some extra shading to darken the car around the bottom to represent a lack of light hitting that spot on the car.

@DaleTona Looking good!

When I've done bodylines over the years, I do 2 layers. Shading (black, RGB 0,0,0 set at Multiply) and Highlight (white, RGB 255,255,255 set at Soft light) then you can adjust your opacity levels were needed.

Not sure what your currently setting them as.

Also, what size template are you working on, 2048??

1024. I might do a 2048 version, but I used a 1024 template as the base. 2048 will have more detail, but it would make it harder to find the headlight/taillight decals at the right size without blurring them too much during the upscale.

For shading, I'm not using any special layer types, just the airbrush tool, gradients, and changing the opacity, very much a freehand endeavor. I might try what you are saying, see if that makes a difference.

Also I have made lower grills now. Here is one setup of many possible with the parts I have.
