Hi everyone,
first time I post here, I am not new to NR2003 but finally going to give my contribute to this great sim.
I am working on a ReShade preset to push NR2003 visual look to something better, and this game deserves it.
I am also using RTGI shader which is raytracing implementation by Pascal Gilcher, but it does not come with default ReShade installation, so just be aware of that.
I'll make a variant without RTGI in case you don't want to go with it, even though the great ambient occlusion added by RTGI is not the same using standard AO from default ReShade shaders.
Already spent one month doing endless back and forth and tweaking a ton of parameters and finally this preset is getting in place, so i thought it is the right time to show something to the community.
Keeping you update about my work in progress and let you know when the preset will be released (I expect approx around mid April).
Here are some screenshots:

Thanks man, I'll add instructions about how to setup ReShade wen I'll release my preset.
I haven't updated my NR2003 since years I think.. just stick with some old update and the 97 Cup, plus some updates to track objects, sounds and a few other things. Most of my game is Vanilla. Any good link to 4k skies? I guess mciarlo is the best.

(if u do get mystical's uie 2013 mod i recommend getting ryan's blue blocks to go along with it, it provides a nice uniform touch)

That looks stunning. I am very impressed with how good that looks. It looks like tv footage. Looking forward to this. By the way, after seeing the video, what sound mod are you using? I also race using the ‘97 mod and yours sounds so realistic.

Hello everyone,

i haven't posted for a while any update about my work in progress on the NR2003 Next-Gen preset for ReShade. Been very busy with work and some health problems, but hopefully now it's fixed and I can also find some time to finalize my preset and share it with the community.

I did some more tweaks and ended up with a very good looking one for replays, which before were always pretty washed out. I think it works well now for both interior and exterior cameras.

I ended up with several presets to be used according to the track and weather since one for everything does not work, plus a couple of extra presets in case you want to take closeup screenshots but working fine also with replays. However in this video I haven't switched to other presets, using the same for every camera from start to finish, and I think it's quite a good achievement considering the (non-existing) lighting system of NR2003 and it's age.

If you dont' want to watch the full video - you can jump to around 5:20, a crash happened.

Hope you like it and hopefully I can share it soon. But I need to record a video tutorial or some instructions first at least, on how to use it and what you need to get it set up properly.

More news soon.

Looks very nice.. I used reshade for a while, then got out of it. But your video and pics look great. Maybe post some settings. There was just way to many for me to figure out somethin good.

I actually use Petty V8 3 sounds, but the ones about the engine are from Milan Milano Gen4

Damn, that looks amazing! I've actually tried playing with RTGI but couldn't get it to actually work, so when you release this I'm definitely going to have to check out what you did.

nice job.
also, no need to apologize... family and personal health should always be prioritized above a video game.

So since it's pretty relevant to this, I'd actually like to ask if there's a way to fix dx8 to dx9 and reshade breaking nvidia control panel settings. I had forgotten all about it doing that and I don't know if there's a work around possible, but it sucks having these beautiful presets marred by aliasing that the SMAA, FXAA, and DoF can't even hide that well.

No idea honestly. I know also on American Truck Simulator everyone using nvidia settings for antialiasing were not able to use ReShade, otherwise Nvidia settings stop working.
Hopefully in the future ReShade will be improved to be compatible with Nvidia settings overrides.

This is my issue as well and one of the reasons I stopped trying to use Reshade.

I think if NR2003 was natively dx9 it wouldn't be an issue, I believe the issue comes form having to hook multiple dlls. It sucks, but what can you do. I even tried playing with Nvidia Profile Inspector to find a workaround and wasn't able to find anything.

Since ReShade effects come after Nvidia profile inspector or GeForce Experience / Nvidia control panel, probably it collides with NVidia tweaks.
Considering that NR2003 was developed in 2002, it's enough a miracle that we are still able to run it in 2021!

So, I acutally figured out how to make anisiotropic filtering and antialiasing work at the gpu level with reshade. You have to use dgvoodoo as a wrapper instead of the directx8 to directx9 wrapper, and then once you have that installed, enable it in dgvoodoo's config executable. This makes the game run on D3D11, so it might mess with the reshade a bit, but I think it's just a couple of tweaks to make it work again. If necessary, I can write up a tutorial on how to do all of this at some point, probably next weekend.

EDIT: Found a simpler solution. Download Nvidia Profile Inspector, and set the Antialiasing compatibility field to 0x00400041 which isn't an option in the drop down, you'll have to copy paste it. dgvoodoo breaks a couple reshade effects.
