As I was having fun messing around with older Papyrus tracks, I wanted the respective cars to drive on them as well. I found myself only being able to find one available carset/mod for NASCAR Racing 4, and it was cluttered and filled with MIP changes, fictional/personal cars, greatly compressed schemes on the default cars, a few default cars flat out missing, as well as incorrect ratings on those default cars. So my first action was to try and import the car files straight from the disc, but I soon realized car files from NR4 aren't the same as NR2002 or NR2003, and wouldn't just carry straight over. I used WinMip to export all TGAs for the cars and pit crew files one by one, I also did the same method and carried over the ratings to compatible cars one by one as well. In total it took about 5 straight hours and I'm happy I finally got around to doing this, as it might help others who want to relive the NR4 days.
What all in total have I done?
- Uncompressed original paint schemes. (And pit crews, but they don't fit the NR pit boxes)
- Correct, original car ratings.
- Reverted the MIP files back to default.
All credit goes to Papyrus for such an amazing set of cars, and their hard work, as well as nascarfan13 for converting the NR4 bodies way back when in 2011. Now go out there and enjoy these cars, and maybe, relive some fond memories.
