Just imagine this. Three races into the season and you're dead last among those who've entered all 3 races. What's the best way to fix that? How about scoring the victory at Phoenix? Impossible? Nope! It's been done and
Blogospheros is the one who has done it. Not only that, only Blogospheros broke the 200 point mark at Phoenix. It was a decisive victory by a margin of 17 points over runner up Ackbarfan. With that, Ackbarfan becomes the first player to have a second top 3 finish in 2024. In fact it's the second consecutive top 3 finish for Ackbarfan after a 3rd place finish at Las Vegas. Finishing 3rd at Phoenix was Hendrick9fan, followed by CardinalCopia and HakaBaka to round out the top 5.
Congrats to
@Blogospheros on the win!
Now 4 races in and there's been some fluctuation atop the points standings. Cola83 came in to Phoenix as the points leader and leaves in 4th place. db512 opened the season with a win at Daytona, then slipped back a bit, but is now back on top. You'll notice those at the top of the standings are the ones with the highest weekly average so far. That's no accident. Consistency always wins in the end, even though we're only 4 races in. The lead is only 11 points over the aforementioned Ackbarfan. Those two consecutive top 3 finishes are helping out that cause. Connor24fan currently runs 3rd overall followed by Cola83 and the highest running rookie Kevmire in 5th.
On the rookie front, oddly enough all the rookies finished together with no separation 17th-20th. So not a lot of change in the rookie standings. Kevmire maintains the lead there. ClarkG27 sadly did not make any race picks so that won't count as a start. So far we have four rookies with 4 starts and two rookies with 1, but that's OK because only the best 18 races will comprise each rookie's overall score at season's end to decide who the 2024 Rookie of the Year is. So if you've never entered this season or never entered before ever, don't worry about coming in late! Anybody can win on any given weekend and there's plenty of time still to contend for the Rookie of the Year title and the overall series championship.
That about wraps it up from the Arizona desert. Let's see how it all shook out at Phoenix:

Big thanks to all 24 who entered Phoenix, tying Daytona for the largest field of 2024. Hope to see you all back again and hopefully even more this coming weekend as short track season begins in Bristol.
