Next! Jimmy Means car actually driven by Jimmy this time. Not for long though. Car blew up pretty fast. This car is as it was driven at the first Richmond weekend. These cars are pains in the ass. Barely any photos of these one off sponsors. In some cases, liberties need to be taken. The hood sponsor on this one is a case of that. I opted to not try to duplicate the font outside of getting the style. I could modify the font a bit to account for some of the tails spanning off a few letters. But, in the case of something like this, I think we can call it good.

I am uncertain what exactly Funshine RV Center was, but Ken Squire mentions as the car is blowing up that he believes the Statler Bros. had something to do with sponsoring the car. Was he talking about the band? Or something else? I am also unsure. Anyways, 987127892186 Jimmy Means cars to go.

I just realized this car has a silver valence. I'll fix that. Shut up. :nerd:

At least there's one silver lining about his cars. Most of them have the same base scheme. White car with a black hood. But yeah, the local sponsors are the rough deal.

Some updates. To start with, we are now at 100+ cars.

Jimmy Means research has been deep. The number of car variations he had in 1992 was just absurd. I feel like I'm trying to keep up with a driver in 2024. lol. Anyways, I ended up getting some assistance from some folks, including a friend of the owner of Suburban Printery. The results of that assistance uncovered several uncertainties on other cars, as well. Because of that, I've updated a few of the cars I'd already completed for Jimmy.

Research has also uncovered a couple of cars that weren't recorded by Racing Reference. For example, the car below ran the second Daytona race, but the sponsorship was not noted in the final results. Additionally, I wasn't aware that Suburban Printery actually sponsored both Michigan races, for the same reason. The 2nd race didn't have him marked as being sponsored. This isn't uncommon, but it can make research a pain in the ass.

With that said, there will be 1 or 2 Jimmy cars I simply cannot do. There's just not enough available references to make anything accurate. But, a majority of them are identical outside of the sponsor being slapped on the car after qualifying into the event. So, oh well. There's currently 8 Jimmy cars (9 if you include the Brad Teague). He's well represented. I still have 2 of his cars left, too, before doing the cars for the other drivers that drove for him that year.

With that said, I'm really excited to move onto the next number and oh that's right it's 20234587293784 more #53 Jimmy means cars!!

Oh, and I just remembered I had forgotten to add the red layers to my Snap-On Racing sticker. Dammit.

(You'll note the car below doesn't contig-wise match the photo. Images I grab from the carviewer are generally before the car is actually finished)

Great job on the Jimmy Means cars! I used to live near Boiling Springs and Forest City in North Carolina... used to see Jimmy a lot.

Alright, I am done with this number. I was able to source 16 total cars, but only able to make 14 with either full accuracy or enough accuracy that the car is a virtual match for the real world car. The 2 missing cars are the one week Jimmy was sponsored by CAS Inc. and the Black Hurley Limo car from the last race of the season. But, whatever. 14 cars is beyond plenty. Remember you can click the images to expand them in size to see them more clearly/larger.

With that, I will move onto the few 53 cars that Jimmy ALSO fielded. The original start & parker. Dammit, Jimmy.

Question on Tommy Kendall, did he drove a Chevy at Sonoma? I thought that it was a Pontiac, probably I was wrong.

Nah, I'm just waiting for your painting insanity to kick in and tell you to make all the other ones till you can have a full field of just the #52 in-game. :p LOL!
In fact they do exist some screenshots and images of the cars during the races.

Basically the CAS Inc. car used at the Southern 500 is the same white Pontiac with a black hood, but they never had a proper shot from a really close view to see a lot of details.

The Hurley Limo Ford used in the Hooters 500 was totally black and there were not so many details too, although it looks pretty similar from what he used in 1993.

This is the car that ran at Darlington

And this is the version used for the Hooters 500, when he started right in front of Richard Petty. As you can see, it's pretty difficult to understand something... :/

Yes. Just watched this on the Nascar Classics site the other day. They show him pass Alan Kulwicki for 13th right at the finish line.
Anyway, infos on the 53 car.

Driven by John McFadden in 5 races (Rockingham 1 and 2, Darlington 1 and 2, Talladega 1). At Darlington 1 was sponsored by Voyles Auto Salvage and at Rockingham 2 was sponsored by Voyles John Deere.

Driven by Graham Taylor in 2 races (Dover 1 and 2).

This car in 7 starts has made a grand total of 55 laps out of 2837 laps. That's a starter and parker for you. At the voice "Money" on Racing Reference they've earned 30'407 Dollars.

Ted Musgrave, over the course of the year, drove every make available. So, I had the privilege of making basically the same car 4 dang times. Yay! lol. The Pontiac only drove once, The Chevy only at Talladega & Daytona, the Olds ran most of the first portion of the year, and the Ford went from about mid-season until the end.
