Hi,
Confused about the shared folder in sandbox.
I have the folder set up right, that is not the problem.
I know it says to unpack the shared.dat file, I believe that the directions are old
and that shared file would have the old mips in it correct?
I think the latest tracks are using the Revamped Reloaded shared file correct?
I upgraded to that a while ago and have forgotten the details of doing that.

Question being is what do I actually do for the shared folder, very confused about it.

I copied the shared folder and put it in the directory like:
Tracks/shared
Tracks/mytrack/trackmat

Didn't work tried it thinking maybe it would.

Thanks for any help.
Steve

Do NOT add things to a track using the revamped shared folder.. ALWAYS stay with the original. If you are going to add updated/newer 3do file place them and their mips in the folder for the track you are building and add them to your track from there. Never ever add anything new to your shared folder..

When building you will want to make your NR2003 track building install as original as possible, No Reshade or any of the 3rd party nonsense.

And yes the shred folder should always be a standalone folder in your track directory as it always is,,

Ok, I still needed to know about the shared.dat file I have to unpack, is it still in my Papyrus/nascar2003/etc directory. I'm not at my computer right now. Would it still be there after the revamped reloaded install (I can't remember how I went about it) this why I am asking about what shared.dat file to unpack.
I hope this makes sense, when I get back on the computer it will probably be more clear to me but any more help would be appreciated.
Thanks for your previous reply also.

Only use the ORIGINAL shared folder... Forget about that Revamped shared folder all together. Leave the ORIGINAL shared folder in the track folder, unpack its .dat file and move the unpacked files from that unpacked folder back into the ORIGINAL shared folder. When finished DO NOT delete the shared.dat file. Leave that in the shared folder too..

Ok, got that done but my problem is with the drop down list box at MIP: I have only (none)

I did also unlock materials and selected a section.

I am trying to get on my own, just to let you know, I am not just sitting and waiting for a handout.

Thanks
Steve

Ok from the last post I see that I have to put mips in the trackmat folder for them to show up in the list,

I also started watching cynon video part 1.

3do files and their mips go into the track folder that you're building. The trackmat folder is only for surface materials like pavement, grass, dirt, sand, gravel, walls, fences, shade materials.. Etc.

Ah good info, I was going through the tracks trying to figure out what was going on. A lot of learning to do.
Thanks for your help.
I'm sure I will be back with more questions sooner rather than later.
Thanks

Yes I see now, You can see how trackmat to even someone who has done
programming could mistake that for meaning the track mat, like a
textured plane that the track and grass is on minus all the other objects.
Maybe a textured mesh terrain also not a plane. I am actually editing my post here I think usually you would have Tracks/MyTrack/Materials/ like that.

That being track material didn't even cross my mind, I have had nascar since
back in 2000 when I got my first computer and I don't recall the others before nr2003 having a trackmat folder, but I got the nr2003 cd new when it first came out, it has never crossed my mind that was track material, Amazing!

Thanks
Steve
