I've always had trouble creating and using player files. Right now I have just "The Player" listed. When I try to create a new player, the game crashes. Is there a way to just rename The Player to my favorite driver (or does there always have to be a "The Player" in the game?) Or how do I create a new player? Seems like every time I try to make changes the game crashes.

Ok, I'll try my best to help. Click on either of the spoilers for the steps.

First, click on "PLAYER INFO"

If you want to change your name from "THE PLAYER" to something else, click on new. If you want to save the current player, then click on yes. If not, click no.

Another thing will pop up with instructions. Click OK and follow the instructions by filling in your desired name in "First Name" and "Last Name" boxes.

Once the desired name is filled out, click on "NEW", which will ask you to save the new player. Click yes.

Once finished, click on "Done" on the bottom right side to exit.

If you want to import a new car to the game, make sure the car you painted is in .tga format for the game to read and is saved in the "exports_imports" folder.

In the game, go to "OPPONENT MANAGER"

Click on "New" and name the car however you'd like and click on the the chassis the car imports to. In my case, the car I want to import to the "Ford" chassis. Then click "OK"

Fill in your driver's information in the boxes. Then click on "IMPORT" on the bottom right corner.

The car you saved in .tga form in the "export_imports" folder will appear here. Click on the file and click on "OK"

Once the paint shows up on the car and want to save it into the game, click on "Save" below the Name information. You will be asked if you want to save changes. Click yes.

If what you wanted to change was the name of the driver of the car, then still on the "OPPONENT MANAGER", click on the car you want to change the driver's name. Change the name in the box on the top right corner. I'll rename the driver from "John Doe" to "Mike Skinner".

Then click "SAVE" to save the new driver name.

That is helpful, but when I click to create a new player, the game crashes to desktop. I did try to change the name of The Player, but that caused a crash too. Also, I did just install the new NXS20 mod. Would that cause a player problem?

No, the mod will give no problems. You do have the original .exe patched with the updates and 4GB correct?

If its not that, maybe a fresh install of the game could help?

Game is patched with the 4 GB patch also. I was able to add another player by creating a new folder manually and copying into it the files from The Player folder. I then renamed my new folder to my driver's name, and then edited the player file to also add my driver's name. So far, so good!
