Not one of the most interesting paint schemes of 1997 - but certainly one with a lot of history behind it. Steve Grissom pilotted this car flying the same colors as Rusty Wallace and Ken Schrader before.
One of my favorites from 1997. The colors, the way the lines flow over the entirety of the bodywork, everything!
Petty Enterprises was all over these paint schemes with swooping designs and bright colors in 1997. Kyle Petty picked up Hot Wheels as a sponsor in his first year back home under a Petty Team banner.
Side note to all following this page - I will be bouncing around to a few different work sites this week getting various customer data systems up and running. So I will be taking a week hiatus from my "Car a Day" posting. Sorry!

Huzzah! Turns out my laptop IS robust enough to run NR2k3 (in place of my aging and slowly dying desktop). So, no new paints to showoff until next week but I AM starting to get some of the finished .tgas loaded into the game.
Mike McLaughlin actually attempted Watkins Glen in this exact car the year before (1996) but DNQ'd.
Ya know, I was kinda curious how Bodine ended up in a car fielded by Frank Cicci Racing when he drove the #36 in the Busch seriea that year. But him stepping into a car that was originally for McLaughlin at his 'home' track in NY makes a little bit if sense!
Actually, the #34 McLauglin and #36 Bodine Busch cars were teammates, despite running different manufactures.

Interesting! 1997 car / contigs with the 1998 number font! I'll have to look into that one.
I'd say that had to be run at the season finale in Atlanta to promote the Nascar edition of the Monopoly board game released on November 7th according to First Union's website.
