Hi,
I have the GTP(PTA) mod, I have it because I can only use the Redline GTP mod with the disc.

What I wanted to do was use the Redline GTP night tracks in the GTP(PTA) mod.

I haven't seen anything on doing it, I have seen Redline GTP using NR2003 tracks but not the other way around, using Redline GTP tracks in NR2003.

I did of course give it a try and got the could not load track dialog.

Anybody have a way to do it?

Thanks for ant help.
Steve

It's late on a saturday night and beverages has been consumed but I'm pretty sure all you have to do is copy a fast.pta.sim from another track (preferably similar with gearing etc) and drop it in the track folder for it to load. It's the setup the AI is using so it's important it's actually called exactly that :)
If you're running arcade mode it should be enough to make sure there's a arcade.cup.acd setup in the track folder unless you've deleted the cup series from your Series folder. If you have I'd just try copying arcade.cup.acd from watkins and rename it arcade.pta.sim.

I haven't tried anything yet but I see that there is a different shared folder for each day and night track folder, I didn't unpack the shared folder .dat but I am going to do it to see what's up, I will also have to do the pta stuff. What I think I will probably have to do is rename the shared folder for nr2003 and use the gtp shared folder when I want to use the gtp track and when not using the gtp track I will just rename the shared folders again.

^ if GTP uses additional shared files and not replacement shared files, you might not have to swap around. optionally you could just unpack the GTP shared.dat and files into that GTP track folder.

HMMMM, I have the track loading now by doing that but I also had renamed the track I was using which in GTP was watkins_glen just like the original track.
I renamed the GTP track Folder watkins_glen_GTPNight and renamed the .dat the same way, and it didn't work by unpacking the dat into the folder. What I then did was change the GTP track folder and dat back to watkins_glen and I just renamed the original watkins_glen folder watkins_glen_original but I didn't rename the dat and the original watkins_glen track only showed in my list.
I then renamed both tracks and bot dats, watkins_glen_original for the original and renamed the GTP track watkins_glen and they both showed in the list and it loaded, I think it was because I just renamed the folder and not the dat.
So I think just unpacking the dat may have worked. Now to see what happens?

As I already knew the headlights and taillights were not going to work because of them being part of these files
fast.gtn.jag
fast.gtn.maz
fast.gtn.sau
fast.gtn.toy

Am I correct and would there be a solution?

Thanks

^ dont know about that.

but renaming tracks... the .ptf file (in the track.dat) needs to be renamed too. it does not need to be repacked, just put it in the tracks folder with the renamed .cam and renamed .dat.

in short - the tracks folder, .cam, .dat, and .ptf all need to be named the same to work.

Hi,
Thanks for the first solution, and I see that this one will work also because the original track will not load now.
Thanks again.

I hope to get the lights working at some point.

Hi, yes I have done that a few times and again and the no cd route is not working. I actually had it where it would crash on drive, now I am just getting the papyrus splash screen flash and that's it and it goes back to the launcher. I have done everything right more than a few times and again, it's not working without the cd, I can do an install from the cd and that will work with the cd in the external drive, but the no cd won't work. Disabling dep is not working. I have Win 11.

Most of these cars if not all and more are in Assetto Corsa, the whole thing cost under $10 and has more mods then you could ever think of. It's time to move on.

Hi,
It is not the money, It is the sim, I like nr2003 and redline gtp.
For example I have F1 22 and I just don't like the feel of it, the sims
now a days seem to easy and just don't feel right, I understand the graphics are better and the people are there cheering as models in the stands, but the feel of the driving just isn't right, I might still try it, I was thinking of trying it a long time ago, I have 2 ssd one with 2tb so I have room for it and I have the ram, who knows I will probably give it a try at some point.

You're comparing apples to oranges, the F1 games are just that games, AC is a sim, I play them all and yes they feel different, if they were all the same we wouldn't need as many as we have and thank the sim racing gods we do have the choices we have.

Trust me, try it, if you're more into road racing it's the way to go. You get like 4 hours game play to decide if you want to refund it. Don't download anything, just run the default stuff, you'll be downloading everything you can in 2 hours as long as you stay away from the career stuff, LOL! Oh and turn off all the aids and go with factory ABS and traction control.

No worries bud, next sale you'll have to check out rFactor 2, it has the best stock car physics out there that no one uses, LOL! And of course tons and tons of road course stuff. I'm in the middle of downloading 20 gigs of tracks I didn't see get released, LOL!
