*virtual wheels*
By virtue of an a completely unexpected bonus from work, I’m now in the position to upgrade my computer system from the snail I currently own.
And I mean snail:
This puppy wasn't exactly built for sim racing, in fact, probably is better for getting school reports done and looking up videos on youtube. Based on archived reviews, I'm even seeing that this guy missed the i3 core processor train, and ranked very low on graphics. That being said, I'm thinking anything is going to be an upgrade over this dinosaur.
I have already been to Best Buy a couple of times in the past couple of months, but now I'll be in a position to buy starting Thursday. I don't want to go and buy an all-out for a gaming laptop. I'll still need to use the laptop for when I bring work home, and surf the web otherwise, so it won't be a gaming dedicated computer. The only things I'm looking to do gaming wise is be able to run NR2003, MVP Baseball 2005, and possibly a PS2 Emulator, that's it. I imagine that it going to take *some* RAM, but nothing totally major.
These are the two I am looking at right now. Keeping budget in mind, I'm trying to keep the PC cost under $1000 -- as I'll be adding in the 3 year service plan/protection, Lifetime Microsoft Office, a case, a mouse, depending on the model, a stylus, and a wheel. Preferrably that keeps the cost under $1500.00 all in.

Does anybody else have any suggestions on a laptop that can double as a partial gaming computer, but is more fit for everyday usage as well? What kind of operating systems should I be looking for/staying away from? What graphics packages should I be looking for?
Lastly, is anybody looking for a new backmarker in their racing leagues?
