I've been working on NR2003 cars, with the goal to create complete year carsets, with individual rosters for each race.
I am working specifically on Winston Cup 1979 thru 2007, Busch Grand National 1988 thru 2007, and Craftsman Super Trucks 1995 thru 2007.
I started with 1979 because, like many, that is the year I really started watching NASCAR faithfully ... after Bobby Allison socked Cale Yarborough at the end of the Daytona 500 ... not to mention a new guy named Dale Earnhardt.
I was actually a fan prior to that (in late 60's - early 70's my brother raced in the PacificNW and I was one of his crew members) but during those years I found that I was more interested in Trans-Am with Mark Donuhue, Parnelli Jones, George Follmer, Dan Gurney, Swede Savage, Sam Posey, etc... etc... etc...
Anyways, the reason I plan to stop in 2007 is because the stupid Car of Tomorrow ... also my favorite drivers all began to retire ... and I really got sick of Jimmy Johnson ... it began to ruin my interest in NASCAR.
Well enough of soap box ranting....
The reason I created this post is to begin sharing the work I've done. I'm done with Winston Cup 1979, 1980, 1981, & 1982 ... and I also completed CTS 1995. I will keep adding to this post as I go (be patient, it's going to take years to get this all done.)
CREDITS: To start all of this, I first downloaded all the carsets I could find. I will not be posting any of those ... unless I have tweaked or improved accuracy of those cars, or have added an additional version of a car. (eg. if I was able to find a Chevy, but the driver also drove same scheme in a Buick or Pontiac, then I have re-done the schemes on the other makes/models and I will post those). I have used templates from all over as well, and could never have attempted this without the work of those template makers. At times, trying to find pictures online of a particular car/driver (in the early 80's) is very very difficult. Where nothing came up, I eventually stopped searching and created "supposed schemes" for those cars, so that I could complete all of the individual race rosters.
I will be posting .tga files of cars (and some pit crews as well). So, here we go ...
