Jeff Gordon's Hooters 500 Atlanta car is good to go! This one I added a grill @Lastlap designed specifically for this car. As always, the photo can be clicked on to expand it larger in size.

Thanks for the car list @Sim1Ghila . It is helpful for tracking what's left. There are of course many one offs that can be borderline impossible to find photos for. So, sometimes liberties need to be taken. But in the end, we'll have a version of each car as close as possible and as many as possible. The Gilliland car being raced at Sonoma and/or Phoenix means it's a Winston West car (I believe). So, Winston West photos from the same year should uncover a better visual for that particular 24 car. I did find a diecast version of the Team III Racing one. Probably enough to work with, but some assumptions will be in order for that one. It's pretty basic, though, and that number will be an easy trace. But, does it lean the other direction on the other side? The world may never know. lol.

Copy that, you're welcome. In case I'll try to give my contribute to find something.

In fact I have another news about the n.24 Pontiac entries of Butch Gilliland!

Searching through the web, I've found a group on Facebook group called "NR2003 Missing Years". In this group there is a man called Chris Sullivan, in fact he has created the 1992 BGN carset for the Cup90 mod. Between his posts made in 2019, I've found some paintschemes screenshots that seemed interesting. In a couple of posts it seems like I've might found the Butch Gilliland's paintschemes. But I'm a bit unsure about them because Racing Reference says that the sponsor of Gilliland at Sonoma and Phoenix was Anaheim Electric Gear. Here's the link to the group and here the images of the car. Unfortunately there's no download link apparentely so I don't know if they were the Cup cars or if Gilliland has raced in some other series. Anyway, this guy might know something more about some of the field fillers.

I didn't want to alter that since none of the cars will end up having that later in the year switch. That will be one of those liberties being taken.
The #41 Ford has it for the last race also ;)
However, I did get yelled at (not really lol) about the 'Automotive Finishes' font being incorrect. So, I'm going to have to update that so I don't get roughed up!
@Slipster17 Might be able to help?

I likely have access to that carset. I'll take a look this evening. I don't know if those cars are accurate or not. Maybe? Gonna have to review the coverage and hope for a shot. I was already reviewing Sonoma, but stopped to make the car. Got a bunch of screen shots of other cars from the day, though, so far.

What I mean is, I'm not planning to use that decal on any of the cars for continuity sake in the contigs across the whole field. I already have the corrected Automotive Finishes logo as I need them. I'll stick em on the car this evening, likely.

Oh yeah - it DOES look like you aren't using the completely circular 'O's in that font doesn't it? :p

I'd rough you up more for not using the weird-ass motorsports variant of the DuPont logo, lmao. I went off on a rant about that a year or so ago when I finally figured out why my Dupont ovals on my cars never looked quite right.

Alright..... I am going to rant about this for 5 minutes....... then I'm done I SWEAR lol

I've been painting sim cars for the better part of 20 years and in all that time I always secretly dreaded doing Gordon's Dupont cars. No matter how perfectly I felt I depicted them something always just looked..... OFF and I could never for the life of me figure out what was causing me to feel like that. I mean, I did all of the photo research I could. Grabbed all of the correct logos straight from the companies themselves. But there was still that unease.....

WELL NOW I KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!!!!!

They used a G-Damn completely unique Dupont logo on the Motorsports side of things that is sooooo close to the Commercially used logo that I never registered the difference until today. EFF ME. Why on earth would Dupont DO that?!?!?!?

The Dupont logo that was used for EVERYTHING prior to the change to Axalta has 'DUPONT' inside the blue oval with all of the letters having a slight fisheye effect to match the curve of the oval.

The Dupont logo EXCLUSIVE to motorsports has SOME of the letters with this fisheye perspective BUT for some God forsaken reason then chose to the leave the 'U' 'P' and 'O' completely squared up without the fisheye perspective......

WHAT. THE. HELL. DUPONT.

You've subliminally screwed with my head since the 90s with this! Oh, but I'm on to your tricks now! NEVER AGAIN! lol

The M is the wrong shape, too. I thought I had drawn this logo myself when I did the 96 set, but apparently I didn't. It was too many cars ago and I can't remember. I do remember your Dupont rant, though. lol. I thought about the fact that they were different when I was putting this together, but also thought... I have probably 120+ cars to go and this version logo is already here. In front of me. Ready to go. :D

I know I went thru a couple of versions till I was happy with my oval Dupont logo too for my #24 in my 9/11 set. So, I know your pain. lol.

yeah the Sonoma race has good shots of most of the winston west cars. I started doing screencaps too but stopped cause it would probably be dozens of pics. I also saw Irv Hoerr's #0, which is a white version of the normal #1 car.

But speaking of #0, here's a good shot of Delma Cowart pulling into the pits at Talladega

And a couple of Jimmy Means from that race too

Reviewed Sonoma. I got decent info and references for a majority of the Winston West cars. But, that 24 Butch Gilliland car never appeared on screen even once. Started reviewing Phoenix, going to finish it later. I won't be able to get as clear of references in that video just due to quality. But, if the 24 cars doesn't appear anywhere useful in that, I'm going to have to skip it until maybe some actual photos of the car(s) are uncovered.

Hi there. So, basically I've found only these pictures of a n.24 Pontiac with him driving. The gilliland1992.jpg seems like it's from Phoenix 1992 even though the year marked is 1991, and it looks like the paintscheme is pretty much the same of the other 2 pictures, coming from Mesa Marin Raceway 1991. I just hope that these infos could be helpful, I did my best to find something.

Mercifully, this is over. I'm not even going to try to figure out how much time finding this thing took. Anyways, this is Butch Gilliland in his Winston West ride as it appeared when it ran the Phoenix race. The car that ran in Sonoma was all white. I doubt photos will ever surface of it and it's only visible in the broadcast for about 2 seconds on the last lap parked off the track. So to heck with that. I chatted with Butch on these cars (he basically remembers nothing specific), his old body guy from the time period (who had no photos), Larry Gunsleman helped a bit. In the end someone entirely different supplied the needed photos. Usually how it goes. lol. Anyways, Ken Schrader's turn.

Excellent paintscheme, the 26 car is a timeless classic.

So, in order to help with the forgotten rides of 1992 season, I did some researches on the 27 car, and this time I was a bit more lucky with the paintschemes than the 24 cars! And here it is what I've found across the Youtube videos of the full races and the paintschemes made by Chris Sullivan, found on the FB group NR2003 Missing Years (ALL THE CREDITS GOES TO HIM). In 1992, the 27 car appeared on a limited schedule in 4 NASCAR Winston Cup Series starts, ran by Linro Motorsports.

Gary Balough appeared in the 1992 Coca-Cola 600 on a Chevrolet Lumina. With 42 drivers in the field, Balough qualified in 34th place, but his race ended on lap 131 due to an accident after trying to pass Greg Sacks on the outside of turn 4. Balough hit the wall on the right side and spun lazily, touching the wall again with the front end. For the 1986 Snowball Derby winner, it was his last NASCAR Winston Cup Series start after 24 races done from 1979 to 1992, with a 7th place in 1982 at Atlanta Motor Speedway as a best result, racing on the Buick n.75 of RahMoc Enterprises.

The second driver who raced on the 27 car was Bob Schacht. He made 2 starts at Pocono and Watkins Glen. Starting 35th at Pocono on a Chevrolet Lumina, Schacht retired after 58 laps due to a transmission failure. At Watkins Glen he competed on a Oldsmobile sponsored by Maxx Race Cards, starting in 36th place out of 39 drivers. He finished in 30th place, 1 lap down. Apparently at Pocono he raced with a red car and white numbers.

The last one was the Chevrolet Lumina driven by Jeff McClure at Michigan International Speedway for the 1992 Champion Spark Plug 400 and sponsored by Showcase Racing Collectibles / Race for Life. Starting 39th out of 41 cars in the field for his NASCAR Winston Cup Series debut, McClure finished the race in 30th place, last car in the field running, 27 laps down from the race winner Harry Gant. He was involved in a collision almost halfway in the race on lap 97 on the backstretch with Rick Mast, Derrike Cope (who caused it with a spin after receiving a small touch from behind by Michael Waltrip) and Jimmy Hensley.
